While tantrums and other unwanted behaviors are a normal part of raising a child, if you feel like your child engages in undesirable behaviors more than his peers or to the point where it is significantly interfering with his quality of life, aptitude behavioral services may be able to help. Children, especially those with special needs, may need extra attention placed on the function of the behaviors (what is maintaining the behaviors). A Board Certified Behavior Analyst will conduct a Functional Behavior Assessment with your child to determine these functions and create individual goals and interventions based on the results. Behaviors of focus may include: tantrums, aggression (harming or attempting to harm others), self-injurious behavior (harming or attempting to harm self), refusal to follow instructions, and property destruction (throwing objects, punching walls, slamming doors, etc.).
